Health Insurance

In 2017, the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplements (CPS ASEC) reported that 28.5 million Americans did not have health insurance. But these numbers have drastically changed since then. Today, more Americans are covered by some type of health insurance with the goal of having affordable health care.

Health insurance is a type of general insurance that covers medical bills up to a certain amount, unlike life insurance where you can recover a certain amount of money after your policy has ended. In health insurance, you can only reimburse the amount spent on medical bills, in cases of illness or accident. It may also refer to any insurance coverage on disability and long-term nursing care.

Types of Health Insurance

Individual insurance

Employer-sponsored health insurance has greatly expanded in an answer to more affordable health care for the working class. However, there is a type of health insurance that can be purchased by an individual for himself or his family instead of through the employer. This type of health insurance is usually purchased through an insurance agent to help navigate different plans and cost tailored to the individual’s needs.

Comprehensive health insurance

This covers an extensive range of health insurance where you do not have to think twice about scheduling a doctor’s appointment. If you believe that health insurance is part of an investment, then applying for comprehensive health insurance is a good choice.

Surgical Protection Plan

As the name suggests, this type of health insurance provides a fixed amount of coverage for surgeries specified in the plan.  Surgical treatments may include serious illness such as heart attack, kidney failure or cancer.

Health Insurance for People With Disabilities

In the United States, people with disabilities have a number of options when it comes to purchasing health insurance. There are two types of disability insurance—long-term and short-term disability.

  • Short-Term insurance policy benefits can be paid up to a few months up to two years.
  • Long-Term insurance benefits are paid for a few years or when the disability ends.Bank Account First Name
